Did You Know?

There are currently over 5,100 children in the state custody in Mississippi. 1,4000 in Harrison and Hancock counties. Sadly, these numbers increase daily. Though no fault of their own, these are young victims of abuse, abandonment and neglect. The ages of these children range from newborns to 21 years old.  The number children take into state custody often spikes in the summer, during school holidays such as spring break, and around the time report cards are released.  Christmas is critical time, as well.

URGENT NEED

Over 800 or more foster/resource families are needed to meet the demand in Mississippi. Please call your local Department of Human Services today to learn how you can make a difference in the life of a child.

Children come into custody with little or no belongings.  Emergency supplies such as toothbrushes, socks, underwear, lice shampoo and other toiletries are always in need.
